Save Money, Make New Friends & Have a Great Time!
Do you regularly ski or board at Whakapapa? If so, here are 10 reasons for joining Te Horonuku, one of the friendliest family ski clubs on the mountain.
-
Anything but cliquey! Te Horonuku is very much a family oriented club, giving you and your children a new circle of friends to ski or board with.
- A great location in the snow with spectacular views. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast, ski down to the lifts, and still catch the first chair of the day! Access is not dependent chairlifts and the 15 minute walk from the car park is all part of the adventure.
- Not too big and not too small. The club sleeps 33 in comfortable, family-sized bunkrooms. There are seven bunk rooms, each with 4 – 6 beds. The pine-paneled interior, the clean and modern bathrooms and the comfortable lounge reflects the club’s focus on uncomplicated comfort.
- No long drives up and down the mountain each day and wrestling with snow chains.
- If you get cold, wet or hungry, just pop back to the lodge for a break. Wet ski gear hassles disappear into the drying room.
- Bad weather days are still fun. Watch your children play outside in the snow or in the games room downstairs whilst you relax with friends.
- Après ski without the driving. Enjoy a drink on the balcony watching the sunset over the quiet earth below – the perfect end to a day on the mountain, and the perfect start to an evening in the lodge.
-
A hearty breakfast and dinner each day are included, plus you can make your own lunch if you want. Meals and duties are organised for maximum enjoyment and minimum fuss. A well thought-out and fully road-tested menu takes the stress out of cooking for a group, even for first time cooks.
-
Learn to race. Take part in the club’s annual competition to hone your skiing and boarding skills.
- Exceptional value for money! Compare Te Horonuku fees with other clubs and you’ll see they’re much lower than most:
- One-off joining fee: Family (2 adults + dependent children) $650; Senior $325; Junior (< 17 years) $150
- Annual subs: Senior $105; Junior $65
- Fees per night: Adult $29 ($26 mid-week); Child (< 13 years) $17 ($14 mid-week)
- Guest fees: Adult $58 ($52 mid-week); Child (<13 years) $29 ($26 mid-week)
To help you decide whether you would like to join the Club, we invite you to contact us about a visit to the Lodge this season. We’ll book you in as a guest of a member who is going down so you can experience club life for yourself. The usual nightly rates for guests will apply, however should you join the same season the additional tariff you paid for staying as a guest will be subtracted from the joining fee.
